The day before The Contest IBM held this Java Challenge, where
teams of up to three had three hours to write a piece of software
which controlled a virtual car, racing around the track, watching
fuel (and refueling, hopefully), shooting and dodging tires,
and avoiding car pileups. At the end they pitted all the cars up
against each other in a few rounds to see how they faired.
Joining up with two guys from Texas at Austin, Gene Novark and Jean-Philppe Martin (Austin's Coach), we seemed to fair
pretty well, placing in the top one or two in our rounds? Much fun,
something we [ACM] might bring to UVa...
